Swiss Excursion Part 2: Exploring Mount Pilatus
On Day 2 of our Swiss adventure, we decided to head up to Mount Pilatus which is not too far from the city center of Lucerne. A few gondolas, cableways, and Pilatus Railway later we were met with a surreal feeling of being 7,000 feet atop a mountain in the Swiss Alps. I must say, seeing the view in real life was nothing short of breathtaking. Neverending rows of snow-capped mountains plus stunning panoramic views of Lake Lucerne made for an unforgettable experience.

Things to Do:
Take in the epic view from multiple vantage points. Lots of picture taking to be had!
Stop at Fräkmüntegg, below the summit on the route from Kriens, for the Fräkigaudi summer toboggan run. It’s a short walk from the gondola station, with panoramic mountain views. The run operates in good weather during the warmer months; check the official opening information before visiting.
The route from Kriens takes you up by panorama gondolas to Fräkmüntegg, then by cableway to Pilatus Kulm. It’s a great way to soak in the sights; check the current operating information before setting out.
